What is our mission?
Serving worship leaders through multicultural networks, focused on nations where support is most needed and least available, to encourage the whole earth to worship the Lord.
‘After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb.’ Revelation 7:9
Why is it important?
We are passionate about creating global highways that celebrate indigenous worship songs and cross-pollinate the sounds of the nations throughout the world, so that everyone has a part to play.
At the heart of our mission is to curate local creatives who represent a greater lyrical depth and musical diversity that aligns scripturally with the ‘priesthood of all believers’.
Today 18 songs contribute 80% of the top 200 songs we sing on a Sunday morning. Our heart is to discover and encourage greater diversity.
Scripture reminds us that just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, our stories and our contributions bring value no matter the different gifts, experiences, cultures, values, age groups and seasons in life.
Yet through the commerciality of the music industry building a genre around worship music, we have lost some of these unique and distinctive contributions. The mission outlined in this proposal is to re-imagine a place where ‘everyone has a part to play’. A place that results in a church that is more diverse, more inclusive, more fruitful and more transformational.
Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.’ 1 Corinthians 12:27
'What then shall we say, brothers and sisters? When you come together, each of you has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. Everything must be done so that the church may be built up.’ 1 Corinthians 14:26
Why now?
Historically, worship music and resources have been a colonial expression of reproduction, from an English language bias. It’s been more about exporting westernized styles, than networking, collaborating or encouraging local expressions of worship.
With the advancement of global music platforms in terms of streaming music and video (YouTube), the way individuals connect with music has dramatically changed and brought greater equality for indigenous creative communities. This has given birth to a new generation of local songwriters and musicians who now ‘sing their own songs the loudest’. These advancements have given us more opportunity to identify these communities for training and to encourage cross cultural collaborations, giving dignity to these songwriters, songs and sounds globally.
What do we do?
Gatherings that encourage networking are critical in building trust and creating community whilst drawing worship leaders and songwriters together. This is a place for education and serving each other. Community and collaboration to lead to one another, as such our objectives are:
To foster a place of belonging and COMMUNITY
To disciple people of substance and CHARACTER
To release the local expression through CREATIVITY
